City advises road users of resurfacing in Lansdowne and Rondebosch East

29 January 2026

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises the public of roadworks in Lansdowne and Rondebosch East. The work is planned to take place from today, 29 January 2026 until Friday, 6 March 2026 between 07:30 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday.

‘Residents and business owners in Lansdowne and Rondebosch East can expect some noise while works are under way over the next month. Our teams will do their best to complete the road resurfacing as efficiently as possible. Residents can look forward to fresh roads very soon. The City’s Road Infrastructure management teams are working hard to get to as much of this important road maintenance work while the sun is still out and the weather conditions favourable for these roadworks. We ask that the public remain patient while these projects are under way as we have a limited period of time during the year where we can push to complete as much of this work as possible. Maintaining these roads is one of the ways in which we keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The following roads will be affected over the next few weeks:

  • Sir Alfred Avenue
  • Searle Street
  • Trevor Road
  • Rockford Road
  • Riverside Road
  • Dale Road
  • Van Schalkwyk Road
  • Sprigg Road
  • Karakul Street
  • Anglesey Street
  • Marino Street
  • Friesland Street
  • Longhorn Street
  • Ayrshire Street
  • Heifer Street
  • Small Street
  • Krom Street

All intersections will remain open during construction, road users are to please note that traffic moving in both directions will be affected and vehicles parked in the road which obstruct the maintenance work, will be moved or towed.
